Are you or is anyone close to you affected by dementia?
BRG Communities 1st is partnering up with the Alzheimer’s Society to help make Butetown, Riverside and Grangetown ‘Dementia-Friendly’ areas. This means raising awareness of what dementia is and how people can access information, support and services.
If you have a connection to someone with dementia and would like to find out more, become actively involved or have a say and help influence the way we deliver services especially within BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) communities then please see below:
Thursday 3 November – 10am – 3pm in Butetown community Centre
Alzheimer’s Society: Communities and Dementia
Presentation and a discussion session, workshops exploring the barriers people from the BAME community face in accessing our services and how these can be overcome. The workshops will also offer individuals the opportunity to become involved in supporting changes to our services and ways of working, by informing them about current plans and projects we are running in the local area which they can join. Lunch provided. Please book a free ticket.
Thursday 17 November – 12pm – 2pm. Wyndham Street Diner, Riverside
Come to our first ‘Dementia cafe’ where we will have a meal, a ‘dementia friends’ presentation and a discussion about what type of support you’d like to see in the community for older people and carers of those with dementia.
